MS. NAKAD'S STATEMENT
"It has been an immense pleasure co-directing with Suzy Khalaf this collaboration of cake artists from all over the world coming together to bring awareness to autism. I also had the privilege to work with an amazingly talented artist and fashion designer with autism to create my piece. I wanted to personalize a cake that spoke about MR ANDOLSEK's life, something meaningful to him: his art, his love for castles, and his medieval-looking challis where he keeps his tools. I also asked him to envision a cake based on the inspirations I picked and he did."
MR ANDOLSEK'S STATEMENT
"Whenever I sit down to draw something nonfashion related, it's either a flower or a castle. I love castles so darn much. I even keep some of my scissors in a medieval-looking challis. Knowing this about me, Ms. Nakad asked if I'd design a cake using my castle drawings and this silver mug as inspiration. She also threw in one of my paintings into the mix to ensure I included color in the design.
"What you see in 'our' cake is a combination of us. Dina may have chosen the palette and theme, but it was my work from which she chose. I drew the final cake design, but it was she who executed it. For my part, this was a blast. I hope it was for her too:)."
