MR. ROJAS INTERPRETED THIS ILLUSTRATION BY MICHAEL RYAN ANDOLSEK FOR HIS CAKE CREATION.
MR. ROJAS' STATEMENT: "MR ANDOLSEK and I decided on a different approach this time to the Collaboration. I know, we as Artist always leave a little bit of ourselves in whatever we create but I wanted something more with a bigger, personal meaning. I specifically asked the piece to be based on what been on the spectrum meant to him and I didn’t set any parameters as to what I wanted because I wanted to interpret the Piece and what it conveyed to me without knowing the significance of it for him. "When I got the piece I saw the Black strip between the Blue and my thoughts jumped to it being a break, the difference like if suddenly there is this jump that makes it different to the rest. How the pattern of the lines changed as opposed to the softer Blue pattern. I know I am not explaining myself in proper words but I could see MR ANDOLSEK was the Black part, he is also the Blue part but it is a little bit more fuzzy. "We exchanged ideas later, what it meant to him and what I understood from it and we were so surprise it wasn’t that far off. So our little experiment worked!" MR ANDOLSEK's STATEMENT: "Besides loving black and white together, that portion represents my natural 'black and white' way of thinking. The flower's jagged lines inside the black and white section reflect my rigid approach to things-- something my therapist helps me work to change. The blue areas represent the rest of the world and how beautiful it can be, but also less clear or easy to understand." |
